After prolonged period of practice we reach at certain level, then without contracting hamstring bend knee & bring heel towards hip with the help of calf muscles.( without teacher do not practice).
Here we get full expansion of quadriceps mainly Rectus femoris (which give pain here but bare it) &Psoas major muscle expands. (Learn it from expert teacher).
This posture helps to activate muscles around hips. Hence we can move pelvis around the head of thigh & leads towards the mobility of hip joint, the most important movement in human being which we have forgotten.
It releases the stress on knee& lower back. This posture is advance for patient, it create natural space between two bones of the knee & lower (lumbar) vertebrae, the most important.
This is advance posture for person who is having back problem so learn it from expert & knowledgeable teacher.
