When I look back over my sports injuries, I wonder if things would've been different if I'd known more about what was going on inside my body at that time.
The answer is almost always YES. None of us can account for freak sports injuries that occur from an accident. But the rest of the time there are signs and clues, that when acted upon can help to avoid injury.
Even after you've had an injury, there's so much you can do to recover faster or avoid further damage.
Much of it is knowing your own body, and listening to the signs of pain and/or weakness. That only comes when you start exercise slowly and focus on your technique. Once your body knows the correct movement patterns, it'll know when something's not right.
The other part of it is learning about the injury. It may sound tedious and boring, but if you have some sort of idea of what the injury is and the healing process involved, you're more likely to understand your body's needs.
That in turn, will make you more motivated to do what's required, and recover as quickly as possible.
