Pulled muscle
(Connecticut)
I am a teen, I have been playing baseball all my life. I am a pitcher, my arm strength was incredible. I was able to last inning after inning on the mound. I was capable of throwing up to 70 miles per hour, & I'm only 14.
I was well known, I even have a couple no hitter under my belt. But, my career is in jeopardy. Last season, I was in a spring training game. I started on the mound, it was going good & I had 2 outs from strikeouts. Then, on the third batter of the inning, I threw a fastball and a excruciating pain shot through my triceps & shoulder area.
I thought, maybe it was just in my head, but it happend for the rest of the at- bat. I thought maybe a couple days of rest and stretching, it would be fine. But it wasn't, the pain got even worse. After s couple of months, I still had the pain. But not as bad as I had it at first.
What started happening was that I couldn't throw as hard as I use too without bringing the pain back, and after so much throwing, my arm would hang and it would just be dead, like I had nothing left. Even my coaches noticed that I wasn't throwing as fast or a hard as I use to.
I lost speed & strength. Thats really how it stayed, the pain still followed me throughout the whole season, and my pitching was never the same. The winter came and I thought for ire by resting it through the whole winter, once the season came around, my arm would feel good as new and it wouldn't hurt again.
But the season is coming soon, so I went outside to throw the ball around. The pain wasn't nearly as bad as it was, but I can still feel it there when I throw. I don't want to " baby " it, but I don't want the pain again. I wish I could just pop out whatever is causing the pain. The season starts in a few weeks, what should I do now?
